Leyba Floor Rug

A Floor Rug with Vertically Connected Diamonds, Navajo, circa 1910. The rug measures 84 inches long by 44 inches wide, as woven.

The style of the border suggests that the rug could be from the Red Mesa Region, but there’s no way to verify a regional attribution

The rug is in the collection of Jackie Leyba, in Albuquerque.

All of the colored yarns are handspun Merino fleece dyed in the yarn with synthetic dyes. The dark brown yarns, medium beige yarns, and white yarns are un-dyed handspun Merino fleece.
